Junior Cricket

The club has a junior committee that oversees the Junior Section, we are a Clubmark certified cricket club. The junior committee’s role is to ensure that our junior system is the heartbeat of the club, no club has a future without a strong junior system and that is what we strive for. For the 2022 season we have 9 junior teams from U9’s to U18’s.

The junior committee work closely with our Junior Head Coach John Brierley, Level 3 ECB Coach, to ensure that all of our training sessions are fun, engaging and safe. The cricket club invest in the local community by providing coaching in local schools and we also host an All Stars section for 5-8 year olds to get into the game.

Our junior cricket kit is sponsored by Fielden Factors, Weir Minerals and J.Greenwood Properties. All three of these companies are Todmorden-based and the support they provide year on year is invaluable to the running of the junior section and we massively appreciate their support.

Manchester Money are proud to be one of the sponsors of Todmorden Cricket Junior Section and have donated caps to new junior players.

All Stars & Dynamos Cricket 2023

Here at Tod CC we want to promote cricket throughout the town to promote cricket, the club, and an active lifestyle for kids. To push this initiative further in 2023 we have paid for schools coaching in Todmorden C.of E School, Ferney Lee, St Joseph’s, Castle Hill and Cornholme. All sessions will be carried out by Scott Kershaw & Matt Dawson of The Cricket Asylum on our behalf and we thank them for their efforts in promoting the club.

The coaching sessions will start at the end of March and finish in mid May. We are encouraging those children who are aged 5-8 years old who have enjoyed the coaching to join the club and sign up to our All Stars programme. This year we are launching Dynamos for Girls, this will be a separate training session for girls new to cricket in a fun and safe environment.

Both programmes start on Friday 21st April.

Clubmark & Cricket Development Plan Update Jan 2023

ECB Clubmark is an accreditation scheme for cricket clubs which shows that a club is sustainable, well run and provides the right environment for its members. Clubmark accreditation also means your club is recognised as a safe, rewarding and fulfilling place for participants of all ages, as well as assuring parents and carers that they are choosing the right option for their young people. New for 2022 was the requirement for all clubs to accredit every year rather than on the previous three year accreditation cycle. Because of this the number of criteria has been reduced, but the emphasis on development and well run clubs remain. We are pleased to say that we passed the accreditation in 2022.

The club’s Cricket Development Plan sets out our objectives and planned improvements for the junior section of the cricket club. This started in 2021 and is planned right through to 2025. The Junior Committee refers to the Development Plan during meetings and remains a key tool in our development on and off the field. The development plan below has been produced by the club junior committee and is measurable, achievable, realistic and is set within a given time frame. We look forward to working on this with all members of the club in the coming years and we welcome any comments or suggestions on this plan, please contact todccjuniors@gmail.com. Duncan Sutcliffe is our Lead Clubmark Officer and we would like to thank him for all of his efforts on the administration side.
